Of geometric open work design, set with circular-cut, cushion-shaped and rose diamonds, length approximately 175mm, may be worn as a tiara with an additional fitting.
Provenance
Countess Ilona Edelsheim-Gyulai de Marosnémethi et Nádaska (14 January 1918 – 18 April 2013) was a Hungarian noblewoman and wife of István Horthy, son of Regent Miklós Horthy and Deputy Regent of Hungary for a short time in 1942. He was deeply opposed to the Nazi regime.
After the war, the Countess gave this jewel to her spiritual adviser in Southeast Asia so that he could sell it for funds. He chose not to sell it and instead gave it to his granddaughter who in a twis🌠t of fate end🎃ed up marrying the Countess’ son, thus bringing the bracelet/bandeau back into the family.
Condition
Diamonds estimated to weigh a total of approximately 20.00 - 22.00 carats, on average K-M colour, few M+ colour, SI-I included clarity, as gauged and graded in the mount. Evidence of age and wear the metal, signs of tarnish to the reverse. Clasps secure, safety catches. In good condition. Total gross weight approximately 63 grams.
