Description

  • Small bust of a bishop saint
  • gilt copper, set with glass jewels
  • German, in Gothic style

Condition

Overall the condition is good with dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. A cabochon to the reverse of the bust is lost. It is conceivable that the other cabochons could be replaced or reattached. There is wear to the gilding particularly at the high points. There is some warping to the metal. There are a number of very small lacunae particularly around the moulding at the bottom. There are stable original fissures including around the neck. A section of hair to the reverse is separately attached and possibly later. There are two patches of solder to the upper back. There is a loss to one of the corners of the moulding.
