The canvas has an old glue relining and is stable on its stretcher. The paint surface is well preserved beneath a slightly discolored varnish. There are some minor losses to the edges due to old frame abrasion, with one of approx. 0.5 by 3 cm in the lower right corner and an old small restored vertical loss of approx. 0.5 cm. in the foliage to the right of the doves. Inspection under UV does not reveal anything further than that visible to the naked eye. The painting could benefit from a light surface clean and fresh varnish but is otherwise ready to hang. Offered in a decoratively carved gilt wood frame.

This painting follows the composition of Boucher's 1751 original, which is in a vertical format and now in the National Gallery, Washington (inv. no. 1943.7.2, see P.
