Title-pages printed in red and black, frontispieces and plates, extra-illustrated in volume 1 with the insertion of a printed check accomplished and signed by Stevenson, Edinburgh, 14 May 1887, drawn on the Wilts & Dorset Banking Company in favor of his housekeeper, Valentine Roch, for £10. Original three-quarter crushed blue morocco over marbled boards, spines gilt in six compartments, endpapers marbled en suite, top edges gilt, others uncut; slightest rubbing to corners of a number of volumes.
