Probably Abraham Gevers (1712-1780), according to inscription on the old mount;
sale, Amsterdam, Christie's, 21 November 1989, lot 126 (as A Nightshade)

Condition

Hinge mounted in two places along the upper edge. There is some slight creasing to the upper right corner and very minor signs of foxing and surface dirt throughout. Catalogue Note

When sold in 1989, this fine watercolor formed part of a collection of works by various members of the Van de Vinne family, at least ten of whom are recorded as artists, working in the 17th and 18th centuries.  In some cases, distinguishing the works of the various Van de Vinnes can be very challenging.  Despite the previous identification of the plant, the leaves and fruits shown here seem characteristic of the coffee plant.
