Etching with drypoint, 1641, a brilliant, early impression of New Hollstein's second (final) state, printing with strong contrasts, surface tone in the sky, and touches of burr on the bowsman to the left and the supine figure in the foreground, on paper with a Strasbourg Bend watermark
Condition
Trimmed within the plate mark at the upper sheet edge, not affecting subject, trimmed fractionally within subject at the lower edge, just clipping the hoof of the foreground horse and the ends of the etched lines at lower left of subject (losing approx. 2mm. of subject at bottom), trimmed to the subject at left and right, a repair (measuring approx. 4mm) in the upper right corner of subject (visible verso, not affecting the subject), unframed.
