- knives 20cm., 7 7/8 in. long
places for eighteen; the spoons and forks of stylised hourglass form with anthemion scroll embellished terminals, engraved with a European coat of arms below a Viscount's coronet; the knives of stylised shell and thread pattern, silver blades, engraved with acolle arms below a Viscount's coronet, initialled H.N
Condition
Most of the spoons and forks clearly marked. Good gauge; nice thick bowls and sharp tines. The blades with generally clear marks. Six of the knives are by Chate and dated for 1774, Twelve knives are a slightly differing pattern dated for 1771 and the makers mark is partially legible. Blades a little worn and a couple bruised at the tips. Good overall for age.
