each ovoid body rising from a spreading foot to a flared mouth, painted with birds perched in prunus trees blossoming alongside bamboo and orchid buds in shades of aubergine, green, and white against a black ground, with a raised collar of green above the shoulder, fitted wood stands (4)
Condition
Both vases with minor firing imperfections (making the glaze more matte in some areas), and minor frits at the rim and foot. One vase with a short crack at the rim, and the footring with a few cracks and two chips. The other vase with a 6-cm crack extending downward from the rim.
Please note that this lot includes a stand, frame or other component made from a type of Chinese hardwood, which, if exported, will require a CITES permit to leave the United States.
