the box with bone-inlaid sides mimicking the pages and clasps of stacked albums, the sliding top and clasped center opening to reveal a black baize-lined interior fitted for eight white-glazed porcelain saucers with bases marked Qingmige zhi in underglaze blue (9)

Colorado Private Collection, acquired in the 1980s.

Condition

The hardwood sliding cover with a consolidated diagonal split to one corner and it is missing the tongue and grooved end piece. The joinery is a slightly loose overall.There is shrinkage and some separation to the soft wood base panels. There is wear, light staining, small nicks and scratches to the surface consistent with age and use. The porcelain saucers are in good overall condition with scattered minute burst glaze bubbles, residue to the rims and sides and some remnants of adhered labels. Please note that this lot will require a CITES permit for export outside of the United States.
