  • 86 by 116cm., 33¾ by 45½in.

Provenance

Acquired by the present owner by 1979.

Exhibited

Caracas, Museo de Bellas Artes, Arte Alemán en Venezuela, 1979 (label on verso)

Condition

The canvas has been lined. There is some fine drying craquelure in the white horse in the foreground. Ultra-violet light reveals layers of discoloured varnish which make the surface very difficult to read. However, scattered strokes of retouching are visible in the horsemen and horses in the right hand side of the composition and in the sky. The picture is overall in good condition and ready to hang. Presented in a decorative gilt frame with a nameplate.
