Catalogue Note
"This small edition is referred to as the second on the title because Coronelli regarded the folio edition of 1686 as the first edition… It includes all the plates which appeared in the folio edition as well as the hors texte vignette plates... The 16 double-page plates from the large edition were re-engraved in reduced versions and the 15 vignettes which originally were printed in the letterpress are printed in the octavo edition as separate plates. This edition also includes a map of the Morea, an allegorical plate of Venice, and a plate of the Turkish horse tails which accompanied the standard. It is this edition of Coronelli's Memorie della Morea which exercised such influence throughout Europe" (Contominas).
