The sheet is secured to the reverse of the window mount with a piece of adhesive tape at each of the edges. There are artist's pinholes in each of the four corners. Only the pinholes in the upper left and right corners are visible in the current mount. There is a loss to the sheet in the upper right corner, and there is a long crease in the lower left corner. Neither of these are visible in the current mount. There are some very light speckles of surface dirt and possible staining. There are a number of creases in the sheet, most visible in the centre of the work, around Mount Etna. The sheet is window mounted and held behind glass in a simple wooden frame.
