Condition
These lovey chairs have sustained much wear and some damage from heavy use over many years. Two with fractures to cane seats. One with fracture to back and with losses. Other fractures and damage. Accompanying upholstered seats stained and with old marks. Traces of worm to some. Losses some detail both carved and painted decoration. Exposed beech where paint is rubbed. This charming set will require some workshop attention.

Martin Wood, op. cit. p. 82 writes, 'A pillared alcove, which opened off the hall, served as a dining room [at Eaton Square]... Black and gilt cane back chairs were chosen so as not to appear too heavy or solid in the confined space'.
