Description

  • Desk
  • with producer's paper label
  • mahogany, brass

Condition

The desk is in overall very good condition consistent with age. The wood surfaces present with faint minor surface scratches, nicks and scattered minor abrasions, consistent with gentle use, largely concentrated to the lower portions of the legs. The bottom of the legs with minor inconsistencies in finish due to age (visible in the catalogue illustration). The central joint for the dynamic legs with glue reinforcement as is typical for furniture of this age. The dark lines radiating across the desktop and down the sides (visible in the catalogue illustration) are inlaid black acrylic. The central drawer opening to reveal a wooden pen holder. The proper left drawer opening to reveal hanging racks for files. Note this lot does not have a key for the proper left drawer. A dynamic form evocative of 1950s atomic age design, the work wonderfully exhibits characteristic forms by Kagan.
