Provenance

Collection of Duan Fang (1861-1911).
Acquired in China between 1894 and 1922.
Thence in the family by descent. 

Condition

There are four brown stains, a small area of loss to the paper and light overall staining to the frontispiece. There are small losses to the paper of the title slip. There are small losses to the silk of the painting particularly to the upper and lower edges and along the left hand edge, there are scattered vertical splits, some light overall staining and scattered spots. The colour of the painting and the silk is a much lighter tone and less reddish than the catalogue illustration suggests. There is very light overall staining to the colophones.
