The brooch designed as an orchid, pavé-set with pink, violet and blue sapphires, Dutch assay mark; the ring collet-set with a marquise-shaped citrine within a bombé mount pavé-set with circular-cut sapphires and brilliant-cut diamonds, assay mark.
Condition
Brooch: side of brooch fitting stamped with Dutch assay marks for 18 carat gold. Sapphires varying shades of blue, pink and violet, transparent, with typical inclusions visible under magnification, some surface-reaching, some with areas of minor chipping and wear to facet edges. Pin fittings in good working order, with good tension, clasp closing securely. Overall dimensions approximately 63 x 73mm. Metal with blackened finish. Ring: interior of shank stamped 750 for 18 carat gold, with unidentified assay marks. Citrine orangey-yellow, transparent, appears clean, with small areas of minor chipping and wear to facet edges. Sapphires blue, transparent, typical inclusions visible under magnification, some with very minor chips, some with surface-reaching inclusions. Diamonds bright and lively, estimated total diamond weight approximately 4.00 - 5.00 carats. Scratches to both pieces consistent with wear. Ring approximately 33 grams; brooch approximately 46 grams.
