Set with an oval onyx cameo depicting a Roman princess, within a surround of pearls.

Onyx very deep brown/black and white, opaque. Carving in good condition, areas of very minor chipping to edge. Pearls cream to grey body colour with green and rosé overtones, mixed lustres, slightly baroque forms, wear and unevenness to nacre. Cameo in closed-back setting, measuring approximately 37 x 21mm. Light scratches to metal, stone and nacre surfaces consistent with wear. Reverse of brooch with areas of discolouration and casting cracks. Overall in good condition, commensurate with age, gross weight approximately 18.8 grams.
