Designed as a scorpion, set with brilliant-cut diamonds, marquise-shaped and step- cut yellow sapphires and a step-cut citrine, the eyes claw-set with cabochon emeralds, signed Webb, several diamonds deficient.
Condition
Brooch fitting signed WEBB, with copyright and registered trademark, PLAT WE. Diamonds bright and lively, estimated total diamond weight approximately 9.00-10.00 carats in total, estimated clarity SI on average, colour difficult to gauge due to mount, four diamonds deficient. Rectangular step-cut yellow sapphire measuring approximately 13.2 x 7.9 x 5.5mm, estimated to weigh approximately 6.10-6.20 carats. Marquise-shaped yellow sapphire measuring approximately 11.8 x 8.9 x 5.1mm, estimated to weigh approximately 4.00-4.10 carats. Each light yellow, transparent, stones appears clean, surface scratches, rubbed facet edges and minor chips visible. Citrine measuring approximately 6.9 x 6.5 x 4.2mm, estimated to weigh approximately 1.10-1.20 carts, mid orange, transparent, typical inclusions visible under magnification, one close to surface, chips to girdle, surface scratches and rubbed facet edges. Emeralds mid green, transparent, with typical surface reaching inclusions, fractures, minor chips and scratches to surface. Brooch fitting secure. Light scratches to metal surfaces. Length approximately 75 x 48mm. Overall condition good.
