Description

Of lion and lion cub design, the eyes set with circular-cut emeralds, the muzzles pavé-set with brilliant- and single-cut diamonds, each nose applied with black enamel, signed Van Cleef & Arpels, numbered, French assay and maker's marks.
Condition
The two brooches, the larger brooch signed Van Cleef & Arpels, numbered B4735 and 62, with French assay and maker's marks, inscribed 750 for 18 carat gold; the smaller brooch signed Van Cleef & Arpels, numbered 100864, inscribed 63, with French assay and maker's marks, inscribed 750 for 18 carat gold. The diamonds are bright and lively, estimated colour E-F, estimated clarity VVS. The emeralds are a medium-light to medium bluish green and moderately included. Some enamel loss and damage to both brooches, not readily evident when worn. Light scratching and some minor discoloration, mainly to the reverse of one of the brooches. Overall good condition. Dimensions of larger brooch approximately 50 x 35 mm, dimensions of smaller brooch approximately 35 x 20 mm. Total gross weight approximately 32.2 grams.
