Condition

The canvas appears to be lined. The painting presents a beautiful image with the paint surface well preserved, as noted with the vibrant colors on the figures in the foreground. A very faint horizontal line runs across the canvas at about 20 in. from the top edge. Inspection under UV shows scattered spots of retouches here and there, like for example on the tower at right, the architectural structure at left, in the background sky and water, and on the browns of the boats. The figures in the foreground have very few finely applied strokes of retouches scattered. A more concentrated area of retouching is at left, behind the figures through the leaves and branches of the trees. Overall, the painting is in very good condition for its size and could hang in its present state. The painting is offered in a simple gilded wood frame.
