Oil on canvas, lined. There is some undulation to the canvas, especially through the center of the work. The picture surface is covered by a stable web of craquelure. Some flattening of the picture surface and minor abrasions at the extreme edges, mainly covered by the current frame. Under UV light, there are retouches to the proper left side of the figure's face, neck and hair. Additional retouching is visible in the sitter's proper left arm to address a previous loss; additional losses are addressed in the background at center right and center left.
