Condition
The panel is uncradled, stable, and flat and appears to be slightly beveled on the left and right edge. The painting presents a beautiful image with the colors and details well preserved. Inspection under UV shows some small spots of retouches scattered on the sky with a more concentrated area along the top center. Painting is offered in a gilded frame.

Catalogue Note
Though little is known from this artist, he has been identified as an 18th Century Flemish painter of vedute, some of which were engraved by A. Ordio in 1797.1 It is likely that he was active in Rome between 1780-1782, as several dated works with Roman views have been offered in past auctions.2 Detailed landscape scenes such as this composition were very popular. They served as souvenirs for travelers of the Grand Tour who longed to take a memory of their visit with them. 1. C.
