Description

applied with a ground of mayflowers and trailing leafy branches, the stand painted with deutsche-Blumen and three Watteauesque scenes of polychrome figures in a monochrome landscape, the centre with a caterpillar, the underside of the cover with a purpur-camaïeu battle scene after Rugendas, crossed swords marks in underglaze-blue, the stand with impressed 6. to inside edge of footrim,

By family tradition, the piece had been in the ownership of Louise Queen Consort of Prussia (1776-1810);
Gifted to the Grandfather of the present owner by the Comtesse de Plancy;

Condition
There are some old repairs though the pieces are in generally good appearance.The stand with a gilded over shallow chip to central raised band. The cup with a shallow slither chip at rim re-glued. The cover with flower finial re-stuck and a shallow chip at rim, and two minute chips at flange restored.
