the irregularly shaped and gnarled body conforming with the natural form of the root, the exterior with raised nodes and textured burls, incised with a four-character inscription reading gaojie qingfeng ('nobility and integrity'), signed by Wu Jinshan and dated to the dingmao year of the Tongzhi reign (in accordance with 1867), the bamboo well patinated to a variegated honey-brown colour

Condition
The brushpot is in good overall condition. There are age cracks with associated losses as visible in the catalogue illustration. There are also minor typical flakess to the burls.
