Description

  • Badge width: 4.7 cm, 1 7/8  in.Star width: 9.5 cm, 3 3/4  in.
Second Type (1902-1912), Second Class, First Grade, set of insignia comprising a five-point sash badge, in silver and turquoise enamel, with a central engraved coral, and a breast star, in silver, silver-gilt and enamels, inlaid with a central engraved coral and a smaller plain coral inlaid above, the reverse plain and fitted with a vertical brooch-pin, with Western-style plum-coloured sash

Provenance

Possibly awarded to Gustav Detring (1842-1913), and thence by descent.

Sash badge and sash: Tianjin Museum, Tianjin (2006-2018).

Condition

Both medals are in good condition with moderate overall wear, there are slight surface scratches, minor wear to the enamel, and some oxidation of the metal. One tip of the end segment of the badge is slightly bent. The plum-coloured sash in good condition, with the ends slightly frayed, and with a tiny stain to one side.
