Condition
Overall very good condition. When viewed with remitted light, the favrile glass shade illuminates a vibrant golden orange which is accurately represented in our printed catalogue illustration. When viewed with reflected light, the shade displays a rich golden yellow-ochre with cream-colored wave decoration. The shade with some occasional scattered minute air bubbles and particulate inclusions inherent in the making and not visually detractive, with one small air bubble measuring approximately 1/8 inch wide that is open to the surface. The glass surfaces with some occasional light surface scratches and with some concentrated surface scratches around the top collar of the shade where it is installed into the base, not visible when the shade is assembled. The upper shade aperture with some expected fleabites around the circumference, consistent with age and gentle handling. The interior edge of the aperture with some particulate inclusions and surface discoloration inherent in the making, not visually detractive and not visible when the shade is assembled. The bottom edge of the shade with some extremely minor surface irregularities noticeable to the touch but only visible upon close inspection. The shade with some tool marks within the decoration inherent in the making and not visually detractive. The base is in good condition with some scattered areas of discoloration and wear to the patina, concentrated primarily to the wide handle of the base standard below the harp and to the feet, visible in the catalogue illustration. The upper portion of the harp is very slightly uneven. The socket and pull-chain appear to be later replacements. An attractive example of model with strong golden coloration throughout.
