Condition

Overall very good condition. The glass of the shade and base with scattered minor air bubbles and particulate inclusions, inherent in the making and not visually detractive. The shade with some light surface soiling throughout concentrated to the contours adjacent to the wire decoration. The wire decoration presents beautifully and appears to be all original and intact, with some instances along the lower border where the wire is lifting away from the shade slightly, stable. Some of the shade tassels are possibly replaced. One shade tassel is lacking. The shade is supported by a ring that is covered with a dense wire decoration in very good condition. The base collar and top of the oil font are covered with wonderful knotted wire decorations and presents with some light surface soiling consistent with age. The oil font and one side of the base collar have been over-polished and present with a more coppery-tone. The blown glass base with some scattered surface scratches consistent with age and use, and with a small faint orange accretion on the widest point of the glass measuring approximately 1/2 inch wide, not visually detractive. The cast arms and feet with some minor traces of cleaning residue to the recessed contours. With a period burner that has been adapted with a modern socket for electrification, together with a second period burner that is original to the lamp and retains its original wick and has not been converted to electricity. Both burners are in good condition with some scattered minor surface scratches, abrasions, areas of gentle rubbing, and some minor bending to the upper decoration. With a later clear glass chimney with scattered minor surface scratches. An superb example of Tiffany’s early kerosene lighting with exceptional wire decoration.
