Condition

Overall very good condition. The iron surfaces of the five lanterns present with a beautifully aged patina with scattered light surface scratches, abrasions, some light surface soiling, and minor discolorations and wear, consistent with age and gentle handling. The glass shades present with slight variation in opacitiy and illuminate a soft green-yellow. The shades with scattered surface scratches and some extremely minor fleabites around their rims, consistent with age and handling. Some shades with more concentrated scratches and surface soil. Two shades each with one very small clamshell chip on the lower edge of the shade, only visible upon close inspection. Each lantern with its original pull-chain. The wood ceiling canopy retains its original finish and presents with scattered surface scratches, abrasions, dents, minor discolorations and areas of wear, consistent with age and handling. With a minor seam separation between the boards comprising the ceiling canopy, visible in the catalogue illustraiton. The wood with some more concentrated wear surrounding the screw holes. With two old screw holes which appear to have been sensitively filled in. With replaced mounting screws. The metal ceiling plates in very good condition with minor wear, surface scratches and abrasions consistent with age and handling. The chandelier will require rewiring. A beautiful and rare work with dramatic visual presentaiton.
