Condition
Overall very good condition. This set of dining chairs has been sensitively conserved by a professional conservator to ensure the original integrity of the materials have been maintained. The strict linear and graphic quality of the chairs’ wooden frames is contrasted by their plush seat upholstery, making them comfortable, functional and visually interesting. The wooden elements of each chair present with occasional extremely minor surface scratches consistent with age and gentle use. One chair with two extremely minor hairlines to the proper right upper corner of the backrest, each measuring approximately 1.5 inches long, which appear to be inherent in the wood and pre-date the execution of these chairs. A second chair with a minute edge abrasion to the reverse side of the proper right upper corner of the backrest measuring approximately ⅛ x ⅛ inch, only visible upon close inspection. The same chair with a small area where the wood grain appears to have been filled in, likely before production, measuring approximately ¼ inch wide and not visually detractive. A third chair with two extremely small edge abrasions to the proper right back leg approximately 1 inch above the foot, each measuring approximately ⅛ inch high. Each seat has been reupholstered. An exceptionally well-maintained group of chairs with historic provenance.
