with a brèche d'Alep marble top, the curved front opening by two drawers with palaces and riparian scenes, on curved legs; (the mounts partly later)
Condition
The illustration of the catalogue is accurate. Good overall condition. There are the inevitable dents, marks and scratches due to age and use. As stated in the saleroom notice, the lacquer is probably European and not Japanese as stated in the printed catalogue. The gilding is slightly rubbed and tarnished. There are Verdigris traces on the gilt-bronze elements. The mounts are partly later (the feet and the upper part of the front legs are later). There are some minor refreshments and restorations to the lacquer and to the gilding. The marble top is in good overall condition with minute surface scratches. Impressive commode.
