Condition
Very good condition overall with minor chips to the edges and the high points at some places. There is some surface dirt consistent with age and handling. A fixing hole is visible to the upper edge of the medallion and a hairline firing fissure visible in the background, just above the head of the sitter. There are minor chips the edges and high points of the ebonised wooden frame.

Catalogue Note
Son of Marc de Beauvau, Prince of Caron and of the Holy Roman Empire, administrator of Tuscany, Juste was appointed colonelof the Lorraine Guards and Governor of Bar-le-Duc. On the death of his first wife, Marie-Sophie-Charlotte de La Tour d'Auvergne, he married Marie-Sylvie de Rohan-Chabot. In 1757, he was appointed knight by Louis XV. He was Governor of Languedoc, and then Provence and became Marshal of France in 1789. He entered the French Academy in 1771.
