Condition
The illustration of the catalogue is accurate but the gilding is less orange and bright in reality. There are the inevitable dents, marks and scratches due to age and use. There are some natural surface cracks to the ebony veneer. Some brass elements are lifting. There are some losses to the brass elements and to the tortoiseshell marquetry. There are two construction cracks to the top and one to the lateral right hand side panel, also visible from the inside. There is a vertical crack visible from the inside of the lateral right hand side door. The gilding is slightly rubbed and tarnished. One medal on the left hand side door needs to be refixed. The upper gilt-bronze garlands and trabeations are slightly loose. Nice marquetry. Attractive and decorative cabinet in the taste of André-Charles Boulle.
