Condition
Movement running at the time of cataloguing and chronograph functioning. Calendar and moon phases advancing. The dial and hands in very good condition. Engine turning with no defects. The case with signs of wear, scuffs and surface scratches throughout. Some signs of pitting to the band. The case back with minor scuffs and scratches.
The watch has not been tested to determine the accuracy of its timekeeping. Please note that Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement and that a service may be required at the buyer's discretion.

Catalogue Note
Urban Jurgensen (1776-1830) studied horology in Denmark with his father and then spent time at Le Locle in Switzerland, Paris and London to perfect his skills as a clock and chronometer maker. Urban Jurgensen worked with Abraham-Louis Breguet, Ferdinand and Pierre-Louis Berthoud and John Arnold. His company was paid by the Royal Danish government to start the Danish marine chronometer industry for the country's navy. Over the years, Jurgensen watches have earned more than 30 international awards for design and quality workmanship.
