Condition

MVT: running at the time of cataloguing. CASE: In good overall condition with some minor polishing. The bezels to the edges of the lugs can still be seen but not as prominent, case back with crisp milled edge, the inside case back stamped for 1970, case numbers between the lugs are crisp and easy to read. The underside of the lugs too with wear where bracelet has been removed. There is just minor surface wear to the case. DIAL: in very good condition. Hands with light oxidation. Lumes all reacting well under UV-light. The crystal has now aged and gives a ghost effect to the color of the dial. When the crystal is removed, the dial is completely black like another 1019 with black dial. The watch has not been tested to determine the accuracy of its timekeeping. Please note that Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement and that a service may be required at the buyer's discretion.

Catalogue Note

The reference 1019 here is in wonderful condition retaining attractive proportions and lines. It is interesting to note the effect that the plexi on the present lot has on the dial.  The plexi has with age, and likely due to exposure to light, become ever so slightly cloudy softening the black dial, creating an almost blue tone.
