Catalogue Note

Created in 1956, Day-Date was a world's first - it was the first watch to indicate the day of the week spelt out in full. Sported by many world leaders, particularly American presidents, it came to be known as the “Presidents’ Watch”, which bestowed upon it a powerful aura of prestige beyond its primary functions.  In 2013, Rolex created a truly beautiful collection of Day-Date by honoring the art of dial making and traditional gem setting with a selection of seven Day-Date models in gold graced with diamonds, mother-of-pearl and colour gemstones.

The present watch features a stunning mother-of-pearl carousel dial with an openwork hour ring set with 217 diamonds. The pink mother-of-pearl dial is delicately engraved with weave motifs and the subtle juxtaposition of gem-setting and engraving has emphasized the natural beauty of mother-of-pearl, creating a smooth and gentle ray of light.
