Catalogue Note

Accompanied by a Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming the year of manufacture in 1958, and sale on August 17th, 1959, with ruby hour markers and bracelet. This model, Ref. 3409, was launched in 1958 and production was halted in 1964. According to our research, the present example is one of approximately eight in this series to come to the auction. It is estimated that perhaps one hundred of these pieces were produced, with dial variants bearing ruby, onyx and sapphire hour markers.

The finish of the beautifully textured bracelet and dial is designated as the 'Tuscany' pattern in the company's archives, and shows strong similarities to the organic and unusual designs produced by the firm while working with Gilbert Albert in this time period.

This bracelet is stamped 'GF' for Gay Frères, one of the finest Geneva-based companies to make watch bracelets.
