Catalogue Note
The production of reference 9162 falls into the 1950s, right when Rolex was transitioning from more elegant, tradition chronographs to the Oyster and more modern look we know today. Although the watch is a modest 36 mm, it wears larger due to the thin bezel and dial proportions. Very few examples of the reference 9162 have appeared to market, and the present lot is presented in original condition, with an evenly patinated dial, subtle dark blue telemeter scale, crisp hallmark to the bottom of the lug to compliment the well defined coin edge band. To the best of our knowledge, the Reference 9162 has only appeared twice in public auction before today.
