Catalogue Note

Accompanied by a Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming the date of sale on September 17th, 1941. Together with an unsigned stainless steel chain terminating with a medal fob, and associated presentation box. With its large format, stunning two-tone dial, three-part case and handsomely beveled large circular bow, the present lot is an extremely attractive and fascinating piece. An oversized stainless steel vintage Patek Philippe watch is a perennial favorite among collectors; indeed, it boggles the mind to consider the value of such a watch were it a wristwatch instead.

An example with a similar dial is illustrated in John Goldberger, Patek Philippe Steel Watches, 2010, p. 32-33. A second similar example of the Ref. 625 is illustrated on p. 34-35, bearing movement and case serial numbers two following the present lot (mvt 881121 case 507355).
