Condition

CASE Case in overall good condition with light surfaces scratches and wear consistent with occasional use and age. In our view, the case has been lightly polished, however, still retains thick lugs and deep hallmarks on the underside of the lugs. The bracelet shows signs of wear and stretch, and in our view may have experienced a very light polishing. DIAL The dial is in overall good condition with crisp printing. There is loss of lume at 2, 3, 4, and 11 o'clock. MOVEMENT The movement is running at time of cataloging, however it was not tested for the accuracy of time or duration of the power reserve and may need service at the buyer's discretion. Please note that Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement.

Catalogue Note

Rolex made many special order dials throughout the years for companies and individuals, and one of the most collectable types is what is referred to as the ‘Qaboos’ dial, bearing the signature of Qaboos bin Said al Said, the Sultan of Oman. The dial is also a striking camel color. The interior of the case back bears the serial number which is usually only present between the lugs, a mark of a special order watch, as well as the British import marks as the watch was retailed by Asprey.
