Condition

CASE Case in overall fair condition with wear and surface scuffs from use consistent with age. Top right lug with notable wear and marks. Spotting to the rhodium finishing over the entire case. Hallmarks remain crisp with no signs of polish. Scratches to the back of the lugs. DIAL Dial in very good condition. Patina to the 24 hour dial. Spots to the top right of the center arbor. MOVEMENT The movement is running at time of cataloging, however it was not tested for the accuracy of time or duration of the power reserve and may need service at the buyer's discretion. All functions work correctly. Catalogue Note

Accompanied by a Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirm the year of manufacture in 1997 and sale on March 24, 1998. Together with presentation box, outer packaging and pin pusher. Introduced in 1985, the reference 3940 was produced for two decades and has since become an iconic reference in the Patek Philippe lineup. The model was available over the course of its life in four metals, including the white gold version offered here. The present lot falls into the 2nd series of which only 560 pieces were made, the rarest of all the metals offered in that series.
