Catalogue Note

This coffee-pot was published by Wim Nys (Orfèvrerie royale pour le peuple et le roi, Antwerp, 2001, p. 167). She was part of a nine pieces service given by King Leopold Ist's descendents to Louis Kinkin, in charge of the Royal domaine in the Ardennes and housekeeper of the civil list for the King from 1863 to 1875. In 1924, Kinkin's descendents sold the coffee-pot to the town of Hasselt and the province of Limbourg which offered it to Prince Leopold and Princess Astrid the 30th of September 1928. This piece is inspired by a coffee-pot made by Jean-François-Jospeh Béhin in 1782.
