Catalogue Note
The arms are those of the Barrigue family. This silver-gilt beaker was probably made for François Armel Barrigue de Fontainieu (Arles, 1612, Marseille 1688), for his eldest son Gérard Hilaire Barrigue (1649-1731), who was a prosperous banker in Marseille. The maker's mark could be Michel Curet's, active in Toulon since 1676.
