Condition
The canvas is original and appears sound. There are some minor signs of craquelure including faint stretcher bar marks to the top and middle of the vertical left hand edge, noticeable upon very close inspection, with further instances visible to the white part of the right hand flowers and the right hand side of the purple plant pot and to and beneath the melon in the black pigment, with some further lesser instances visible elsewhere. There are also some very minor instances of reticulation between the jug and the lemon on the table. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in very good overall condition. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals no obvious signs of fluorescence or retouching. The work is held in a gilt and painted wooden frame. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
