Description

The rectangular gold case measuring approximately 6 x 4⅝ x ¾ inches, engraved with a floral pattern, the top with pavé-set round diamond clusters, opening to reveal a mirror, a gold lip stick holder with diamond-set slider, a gold lighter, a removable gold powder compact with fitted mirror, and two additional compartments, one with a clear glass lid, total gross weight approximately 535 dwts, signed La Minaudière de Van Cleef & Arpels, numbered 63713, lipstick holder signed Van Cleef & Arpels 'Le Venarp," numbered 64422, lighter numbered 6726, powder compact numbered 63713, with French assay and maker's marks. With black silk carrying case signed Van Cleef & Arpels; and gold plated comb signed Judith Leiber, Made in Italy.

Condition

In good condition, with surface scratches and very minor areas of tarnish visible under close inspection. Each item with maker's marks for Van Cleef & Arpels and French assay marks for 18 karat gold (not including the plated comb - the original comb is missing). The lipstick holder inscribed Brevete S.G.D.G. The interior of the top lid fitted with a mirror which is broken in the lower right corner, needs to be replaced. The lipstick slider in good working order, with flip top cover. The lighter has not be tested but appears to be in good condition. To open minaudière pull back front tab. To open the powder compact, press invisible button along length, this pops the top open, then lift the interior lid from the right (hinge is along left side); interior mirror of powder compact in good condition. The diamonds, estimated to weigh a total of approximately 3.50 carats, are approximately F-G color, predominantly VS clarity. The comb is gold plated and by Judith Leiber; gross weight of comb approximately 11 dwts.
