Suspending a chalcedony intaglio with carved Arabic script within a frame of round sapphires, topped by a semi-baroque pearl measuring approximately 8.8 x 8.7 mm further accented by round sapphires, spaced by a single-cut diamond, surmounted by a rondelle set with single-cut diamonds, from a strand of round chalcedony beads, sapphire beads and cultured pearls measuring approximately 6.5 to 5.3 mm, length 31 inches, signed JAR Paris, with French assay and workshop marks.

Condition

In good condition, the mounting with very minor surface scratches commensurate with light wear, not noticeable when worn. With French assay marks for silver and 18 karat gold, located on the side of the diamond-set rondelle. The Persian inscription translates to: "Call upon 'Ali who causes wonder You will find him helpful in misfortunes All anguish, all sorrow will disappear Through your prophethood, through your trusteeship, Oh 'Ali, Oh 'Ali, Oh 'Ali." The near-round to semi-baroque pearls, stated to weigh 25.86 carats, are of creamy white to cream body color with moderate to strong rose, green and blue overtones, good luster, and a few with moderate to heavy pitting and cracked skins, noticeable only under close inspection. The round sapphires, stated to weigh 5.15 carats, are medium light slightly violetish blue, eye-clean to slightly included. The sapphire beads, stated to weigh 125.88 carats, are light, slightly violetish blue, moderately to heavily included, as is typical of sapphire beads. The chalcedony plaque is translucent white, with slight mottling. The chalcedony beads, stated to weigh 199.25 carats, are light to medium light violetish blue, many with slightly mottled appearances, a few examples with dark inclusions. The diamonds, stated to weigh 0.39 carat, are approximately G-H color, VS clarity. Accompanied by a photocopy of JAR invoice dated September 22, 2005. Please note that the pearls have not been tested for natural origin.
