The paint surface is dirty and the varnish discoloured; the gold ground is well-preserved. There are tiny pinprick losses scattered throughout, especially around the edges of the central frame - visible in the catalogue illustration. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals retouching to these and other small losses particularly around the central frame, but there is otherwise very little intervention in the painted surfaces themselves. In overall good condition.
