Condition

This photograph is in generally good condition. This early print is less stark in contract that Adams' later prints which often exhibit much inkier blacks. Upon close inspection a one-by-1/2-inch scuff is visible in the lower left quadrant. When examined in raking light, scattered deposits of original retouching can be seen. Also visible in raking light in the upper right quadrant are a few scuffs and 2 small linear impressions that do not appear to break the emulsion. There is chipping at the edges of the print, the most noticeable of which is at the center of the right edge. The mount appears to be age-darkened overall. There is minor soiling and deposits of indeterminate nature on the reverse of the mount. A window mat is glued down to the mount. When examined under ultraviolet light, this print does not appear to fluoresce.
