Condition
With the naked eye: The painting is in a satisfactory condition. It is painted on a panel which seems to consist of a single piece, and a canvas is glued to the reverse with a separate wooden vertical reinforcement along the right edge. We can notice some old cracks running inwards from both sides: 2 on the left and one on the right, each ca. 7 cm. The panel is covered with two different craquelure patterns: one tinier and the other with slightly opened craquelure probably due to the presence of bitumen in the varnish. The paint layer is a bit thin. Inspection underneath U.V. light: We can suspect some old repaints and retouchings. The varnish layer fluoresces and hence obscures a proper inspection. Sold with a modern frame imitating burr walnut.
