In overall fairly good condition with minor surface dirt, notably in the crevices and chips and small losses along the edges of the marble relief, notably to the lower edge. The proper left hand of the child is missing, and his proper left knee has been repaired. Some losses are visible at several places, notably Joseph's proper left thumb and his nose. There is a small loss to his proper and to the Virgin's proper left forefinger. There are natural inclusions and grey veining to the surface of the marble.
