The terracotta is in overall good condition with some minor surface dirt, notably in the crevices and a few minor chips to the high points, consistent with age and handling. The sword in Menelaus's proper right hand is missing. There are hairline firing fissures visible at several places notably on the base, consistent with the material. Menelaus's head has been reattached with joints visible to his neck. On Patroclus's proper right foot, the toes may have been slightly retouched.
